Joseph Lang, Jr. Class 44D, Aloe
Field, Victoria, Texas
D.F.C. Air Medal, 1 O.C. In July and
August 1944, I learned to fly the P47 Thunderbolt, and became quite proficient.
As far as I'm concerned the P47 is the finest plane that ever flew. |

In November of
1944 my combat flying began in Jesi, Italy and after a few mssions our group
moved north to Fano, Italy.
After 39 missions from Fano, went up to Austria, northern Italy and Yugoslavia.
We again moved north to Cessisatico in March 1945. I ended up with 51 combat
missions--dive bombing and close support, when the war ended.
